Project Description
Built for Service Design Studio in partnership with BrightGen, Bloomie is a proof-of-concept AI parenting companion that helps develop a child's phenotype — traits and behaviors shaped by genes and environment — through continuous engagement.
Starting from genetic data, autonomous AI agents conduct weekly check-ins as part of a feedback loop with built-in methods to mitigate context rot and hallucinations. Retrieval-Augmented Generation keeps recommendations tied to research rather than generic results, with features extending to health and nutritional guidance.
The way AI is presented matters as much as the AI itself. Design thinking guided every step — parent interviews, prototyping, iteration — leading to a UI/UX that feels childlike and reassuring rather than clinical. Simple visuals, calm tone, minimal clutter to reduce cognitive load. The AI stays in the background, keeping the experience minimal and interface simple.
Core insight: This project showed what Design and AI (DAI) is about — design at the core driving AI that people actually want to use.
